WEST VALLEY CITY — Police arrested a woman who they said led officers on a chase through West Valley City and crashed through a brick gate early Saturday.

At about midnight, officers ran the plates on a white passenger car near 3250 West and 3650 South, and discovered the car had been stolen, according to West Valley Police Sgt. Levi Lloyd. When they tried to "reacquire the vehicle" the driver had pulled it into a nearby Taco Bell parking lot, Lloyd said. The driver spotted police and sped off.

A "short pursuit" ensued through the Valley Fair Mall area before the woman drove through a field and crashed through a brick wall gate, Lloyd said.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle but soon found it abandoned in a nearby apartment complex.

The driver fled on foot. A police K-9 found her hiding nearby, according to Lloyd.

Police arrested Jasmine Page Rodriguez, 25, and booked her into the Salt Lake County Jail.
