SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The Dixie All-Stars from St. George overcame a 6-0 deficit to rally past Hawaii, 12-6 and advance to the Western Regional final of the Little League World Series late Friday evening in San Bernardino, California.

Hawaii struck first with five runs in the first inning, and Joshua Ward gave the Islanders a 6-0 advantage with a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning.

But Dixie scored four runs in the third to start the rally. Parker Andrus belted a two-run homer that tied the game at 6-6 in the fourth, and Dixie added two more runs on three-straight doubles to take an 8-6 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning.

Matt McArthur’s two-run shot that easily cleared the right-field fence helped Dixie to a string of 12-unanswered runs for the comeback.

Kean Webb pitched four innings of relief for Dixie, allowing just one run on three hits with nine strikeouts.

Hawaii defeated Dixie 14-5 on Monday to drop the Dixie team into the one-loss bracket. The Utahns then stayed alive with an 8-5 win over Nevada and a 13-11 victory over Northern California to set up Friday’s rematch.

Dixie advanced to face Southern California in the Western Regional final Saturday at 7 p.m. MDT.
