WEST BOUNTIFUL — The body of a man who had been missing for nearly two weeks was found Saturday morning, Tooele police confirmed.

Officials were dispatched to an area near the Lakeside Mountains around 9:15 a.m. after a group reported finding the body of John Page, according to Tooele Police Lt. Ron Johnson.

The group was made up of friends of the Page family who were searching for him on horses and accompanied by dogs, Johnson said.

Page was last seen on July 24. His car was found five days later near the Tooele and Box Elder County line. Family members believed he may have stopped the car and gone hiking in the mountains.

Search and rescue crews recovered the body approximately 1.5 miles from where Page’s car was found, Johnson said.

In a post on Facebook, Page’s family expressed their gratitude to everyone who participated in the search. The family had gathered for a small memorial at the site Page is believed to have gone missing from.

“We know that our Grandpa Johnny has been reunited with his wife and is at peace,” the post said.

Authorities had suspended the search for Page on July 31 but family members continued searching for him on their own.

Officials have not released details on Page's cause of death.
