WEST HAVEN — Cori Payne says she and her family are overwhelmed with support at times. Texts and phone calls from people wanting to help keep pouring in.

She's not surprised though, simply because of the kind of people her sister, Sarah Huffaker, and brother-in-law, Perry Huffaker, were.

"They influenced a lot of people," Payne said. "And out of such a tragedy, I know somewhere a lot of good will still come."

The Huffakers, along with close friends Layne and Diana Clarke, were killed Wednesday when Clarke's plane crashed along I-15 at Riverdale Road.

"It's been a long two days," Payne said. "This has really affected the whole community of Ogden."

She said the Huffakers were known in their neighborhood for being well-prepared and for wanting to serve others. "They're LDS, and the running joke in their ward was if any natural disaster happens, come to the Huffakers' house because they're prepared," Payne said.

But Payne said she lost more than a sister Wednesday.

"She was my best friend," she said. "She has always been my biggest cheerleader, and I'm really going to miss her for that, because she's always told me what I can do and how amazing I am. And she didn't do it just for me; she did it for everybody."

While Payne said while she and her family have a tough time keeping up with the support now, she is concerned about how that will be months from now, especially for the Huffakers' four children.

"We will still need to be loved and cared for," she said.

A fund has been set up in Perry and Sarah Huffaker's name at America First Credit Union.

Funeral services for Perry and Sarah Huffaker will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at the Ogden Tabernacle. A viewing will be held the night before, from 5-8 p.m. at Lindquist Mortuary in Roy.
