SPANISH FORK — Days after they lost their toddler in an accident, a Spanish Fork family is keeping his name alive with a big act of kindness.

Levi Sampson, 2, was killed July 19 when a car accidentally hit the bike he was riding. While his parents, CC and Colt Sampson, prepared for his funeral, they also tried to think of a way to honor him.

"He knew his purpose and that was to help others and do good," Colt Sampson said on the front steps of their family home Monday afternoon.

Their older daughter, Skye, had a serious condition when she was born in 2007 and had to go to Primary Children's Hospital.

"Usually it's 2 to 3 months in Primary Children's," Colt Sampson said. "She made it out of there in two weeks."

"We're just so humbled and grateful for the staff there. The doctors. We always said, 'how will we ever repay these people?'" CC said.

Levi would have turned 3 on Friday. To mark the day, they came up with the idea of doing an act of kindness. They've got a big goal.

"$30,000 for Levi's third birthday," CC said.

They family decided to sell "Live for Levi" shirts online to raise money to go to Primary Children's Hospital. As of Monday afternoon, they had raised over $9,000. The support from the community, the Sampsons said, has been overwhelming.

"We're going to mourn. We're going to get depressed. And once that sun comes up, we'll feel just a little bit better," Colt said.
