For soda aficionados, not all soda is created equal. Maybe you’re the person who knows the best flavors are born out of the right filtration system and the perfect carbonation to syrup ratio, or maybe you're the soda-lover that doesn’t know why you prefer some brands to others (Coke just tastes sooo much better). Here are the not-to-miss soda pop stops in Utah (in no particular order).

Sodalicious

Come for the creative drink names, stay for the taste. While Sodalicious is known for the names of their drinks (“Rocky Mountain High”, “By Common Consent”, “Just Friends” are a few) people come back time and again for the flavors. Insider tip: Order your drink “extra dirty” to have their soda mixologists add half and half, or “skinny” to substitute regular soda for diet. You can find locations all over Utah County.

Swig

As it turns out, Sodalicious isn’t the only place that offers its soda “dirty”. At Swig, a drive-thru soda shop, ordering your drink dirty means to add coconut (coconut infused Dr Pepper and Mountain Dew are dirty best-sellers). People can’t seem to get enough of Swig. After starting with just one location is St. George, it has now opened locations all over Utah. Just make sure you come here with a bit of time because they're known for having long drive-thru lines.

Chuck-A-Rama

Soda may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Chuck-A-Rama, but that’s one of the reasons it’s so great. One of its best-kept secrets? Chuck-A-Rama is touted to be the only sit-down restaurant in the Western United States to boast both Coke and Pepsi products, with a total of over 44 drinks. It also knows the magic of soda pop is in high usage, which keeps the syrup fresh, and in cleanliness, which, with their daily maintenance on all machines, means soda runs free and fresh. And with their self-service, you can create your own unique drinks. If you’re located anywhere along the Wasatch Front, there is sure to be a location nearby. The choice is yours!

Maverik

Adventure’s First Stop filter their water through reverse osmosis to “make sure we have clean lines and proper carbonation levels,” as quoted in an earlier KSL article. Reverse osmosis forces water through a membrane to remove ions, molecules, bacteria and other particles from the good ol’ H2O. Fewer particles means you can saturate your drink with more syrupy goodness.

McDonald’s

You can’t have an article on soda without mentioning America’s favorite fast food pit stop. Because of its high traffic, much like Chuck-A-Rama, the syrup doesn’t sit in the dispenser very long and, therefore, keeping it all fresh. (Compare that with quieter locations where the syrup sits longer, getting warmer, older…grosser as time ticks on. Yuck.) Not only that, McDonald’s serves their drinks ice cold. The colder a drink, the better it holds carbonation giving you a bubbly treat with every sip out of their bigger straws.
