THE LINE OF FIRE — The guy who built the world’s largest NERF gun is at it again, but this time with an extreme way to keep cool during the dog days of summer.

Mark Rober — a former NASA engineer who got his undergrad at Brigham Young University — decided to build an unreasonably sized Super Soaker for his latest YouTube project.

The monster weapon of mass saturation measures in at 7 feet long and is shown in the video breaking through a pane of glass, because the water from the soaker exits the gun at 272 miles per hour.

While a traditional Super Soaker emits water at 40 PSI, Rober’s beastly aqua bazooka sprays water at 2400 PSI — eight times the pressure from a firetruck hose, “which, in hindsight, is probably overkill,” he said.

In the video, Rober demonstrates the gun’s power by showing the water stream cut through a watermelon, a can of Coke and lineup of wine glasses. Oh, and then he tests it out on the neighborhood kids (from a safe distance).

The monster gun now holds the Guinness World Record for largest Super Soaker. In the video, Rober goes into some detail of how the gun works and what went into its construction, which took about six months total. The base of the gun holds a tank of nitrogen gas to pressurize the water which is fed into an adjacent chamber.

The only way to defeat someone wielding this weapon in a water war is to take cover and wait until they run dry.
