KAYSVILLE — Established in 1850, the quiet city of Kaysville identifies itself as "Utah's Hometown." Come discover the local artisans, boutiques, galleries and restaurants that make up the charming downtown district that welcomes guests the third Thursday of each month during the Downtown Stroll.
The Downtown Stroll was conceptualized as a way to introduce people to the businesses along Main Street and provide another venue for the community to gather and enjoy an evening out with friends and family. Designed to coincide with the USU Botanical Center's weekly farmer's market just a few blocks away, the activity promises to be an event participants will want to return to again and again.
Visitors can ride their bike or pack their stroller and bring their Pioneer Day guests downtown on July 20 from 5:30-8 p.m. for an evening of dining, shopping and fun. Look for the monthly Downtown Stroll on Main Street between 200 North and 50 West in Kaysville. Wear comfortable shoes and get there early, as parking can be a challenge. Visitors can often park at the lot behind the old city library on Main Street or park a block or two away.
One of the new businesses on Main Street is The Canyon Gallery, formerly at the Rock Loft in Farmington. The gallery has been in business for 26 years at its previous venue. It was relocated to Kaysville Main Street during the renovation of its original site. Look for exhibits of original paintings, gallery editions, prints and other fine art and visit with owner Katherine and local guest artists. A new neighbor, photographer Mike McConkie, is opening a gallery to showcase his work just next door.
Dining on Main Street is a fun affair at eateries such as Orlando'sMexican Restaurant,BC Chicken, Gnarly's Island Grill,Dylan's Drive-Inn and other local favorites.
Discover boutiques such as Studio K Gifts and Design where owner Kay offers design services, handmade pottery, decorative arts, artisan chocolates, wood and paper gifts. Holly at To Market sells vintage and found objects, gifts, jewelry and unique home decor items. Many of the Main Street businesses will be offering special discounts and incentives the night of the Downtown Stroll.
Along with the Downtown Stroll, visitors can go check out the USU Botanical Center Thursday Farmer's Market, which was established in the centuries-old traditions of Great Britain and other European communities. The USU Farmer's Market is located at 50 West and 875 South and runs from 5-8 p.m., or dusk — whichever comes first. Look for locally-sourced produce, gourmet food, entertainment and children's activities there and check the website for additional dates and activities.
