THE SALON — I’ll be honest, I don’t eve know where to begin with this, but I do guarantee this video will elicit some sort of strong reaction from you.
A groomer in the Bay Area named Katrina Short is not only a dog groomer, but she’s a creative groomer as well. Creative groomers go way beyond the regular shampoo and trim; these select group of groomers take grooming to new heights.
From carving out interesting shapes in a pup’s fur to using pet-safe dye, it’s sort of like cosplay for dogs using their own fur. The sky and imagination are apparently the limit, and I personally believe that Short has found the current limit.
In the video, Short used her own standard poodle, Zeus, for her newest creation, and when you see him, you’ll certainly do a double take. Zeus is trimmed and dyed then probably trimmed and dyed again to the nth degree in an extremely detailed zebra pattern. He even has a very zebra-like mane.
The truth is I’m hugely impressed and entertained by this video, but I would be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t also a little disturbed. It obviously took a lot of skill and attention to detail, but it’s just odd to see a dog look like that.
Still, I keep watching it. And Zeus is such a happy and exuberant pup that it’s hard not to be happy myself while watching.
