COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — On Saturday, Cottonwood Heights police arrested a suspect in connection with a series of armed robberies at several local businesses.

Police believe Zane James, 19, of Cottonwood Heights, is responsible for a series of armed robberies that happened on an almost weekly basis for the past five weeks, including robberies at GameStop, Subway and World Market.

Lt. Mark Askerlund of the Cottonwood Heights Police Department said one of the department's officers was leaving a local store when he noticed a man matching the description of the robber.

The officer returned to his vehicle to call for backup and they were able to safely take the man into custody.

James was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on five counts of armed robbery.

"It has been frustrating and we have been chasing down leads and excluding individuals," Askerlund said. "We got fortunate this morning."
