LEHI — Crews extinguished a fire at the home of a West Valley City firefighter Thursday afternoon in Lehi.

The fire broke out in the basement of the firefighter's home at 2712 N. 600 East around 2 p.m. Firemen from Lehi, American Fork and Lone Peak Fire Departments responded to the report and extinguished the blaze in about 30 minutes, according to Lehi Fire Department Battalion Chief Rick Howard.

The fire traveled from the basement and went out the back side of the house through a window to the attic, according to Howard.

The roof the house partially collapsed, and crews were pulled from the inside to the outside to save the house.

"Our crews made a pretty heroic stop. They were able to save three-quarters of the attic space," Howard said.

Nobody was injured in the fire, though there was a report of a lost 12-year-old boy until it was discovered he was still at school.

Investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire.
