LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — The death of a former U.S. Olympic bobsled legend and Park City native remains unclear after preliminary results were released Sunday.
The Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac, N.Y. announced that 37-year-old Steven Holcomb died in his sleep Saturday with pulmonary congestion, or fluid on the lungs, U.S. Bobsledding said in a statement.
Holcomb, who hails from Park City, was staying at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. at the time of death.
The report, which is also pending a toxicology report by an independent laboratory, showed no signs for drugs and therefore the investigation is under no suspicion of foul play.

The final determination and cause of death will come when toxicology tests are completed, a process that could take several weeks.
Holcomb was found dead in his sleep at the U.S. Olympic training center in Lake Placid, N.Y.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to the family, friends and teammates of our dear friend Steven Holcomb,” USA Bobsled & Skeleton board of directors chairman Pete Piechoski said in a statement. “Steve was a wonderful man, and a great friend. He was a fearless competitor whose light shone bright and guided us all. You will be sorely missed, Steve. God’s peace to you on your next journey.”
Holcomb was a three-time Olympian and three-time Olympic medalist, including winning the four-man gold medal as the driver of the “Night Train” team at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia.
