OGDEN — The Corner Canyon Chargers completed the comeback.

Down eight points to Maple Mountain with about four minutes left to play, the Chargers rallied to win the game, 69-67, behind some timely shotmaking and stellar defense.

A shrewd strategic changeup by Corner Canyon coach Dan Lunt was the key.

"We called a timeout and put them in full ball-denial," Lunt said. "Sometimes those things work, sometimes they don't. It came out at the right time, and we started to get some steals and some turnovers, and it got us going."

The biggest steal of the game came with 10 seconds left. With Maple Mountain having a chance to tie with a three, the Chargers stole a swing bounce pass on the perimeter, sealing the victory.

The turnaround negated a strong interior performance from Maple Mountain. The Golden Eagles dominated the paint scoring battle, 36-22, and the rebounding battle, 40-28. But the 3-point shooting from Corner Canyon's leaders was the key, shooting 11-25 (44 percent) for the victory.

Corner Canyon plays Olympus at 7:30 p.m. at Weber State on Friday. It will be the first time Corner Canyon has qualified for the state semifinals. While Olympus will be the favorite, Corner Canyon is the only team that defeated Olympus in region play this year.

Ammon Jensen led Corner Canyon with 16 points. Tyler Boyack led Maple Mountain in scoring, also with 16.
