Talking Softball: Baseball Hall of Fame to honor famous ‘Simpsons’ episode

Homer Simpson to the Hall of Fame? Yes, but we’re not talking about the Television Academy Hall of Fame.

We’re talking about the Baseball Hall of Fame.

On May 27, the Baseball Hall of Fame will honor “The Simpsons” and the 25th anniversary of one of the most famous episodes in their prestigious history, “Homer at the Bat.”

The episode, which debuted on February 20, 1992, revolves around Homer playing on the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant’s softball team. To make sure he wins a bet, Mr. Burns decides to hire MLB players to work at the plant and play on the team.

Some of the players who guest starred included Hall of Famers Ken Griffey Jr., Wade Boggs and Ozzie Smith. Other guests included Roger Clemens, Don Mattingly, Darryl Strawberry, Steve Sax, Mike Scioscia and Jose Canseco.

The team photo, seen above, shows the fate of each player at the end of the hilarious episode, which is considered one of the best in the show's history.

According to the Associated Press, Boggs and Smith will appear at a round-table discussion at the Hall of Fame on May 27 to talk about the episode. “Simpsons” staff are also scheduled to appear at the event, including executive producers Al Jean and Mike Reiss, director Jim Reardon, executive story editor Jeff Martin, and casting director Bonnie Pietila.

To celebrate “The Simpsons” being honored by the Baseball Hall of Fame, here’s Terry Cashman’s “Talking Softball” video.

Hopefully, Mattingly gets rid of those sideburns by May 27 or else Mr. Burns will be furious.

Zion Williamson: the next ‘Human Highlight Film’

Last weekend’s NBA Slam Dunk Contest was a nothing short of boring, to say the least.

To satisfy your need for awesome dunks, we present to you Zion Williamson. He’s a 6-foot-7 sophomore power forward from Spartanburg Day School in Spartanburg, South Carolina. According to ESPN.com, Williamson has several offer letters from major college basketball programs, including Louisville, North Carolina and UCLA.

Williamson hasn’t declared which school he will be attending. But whichever school lands him may be getting the next Dominique Wilkins, who was nicknamed “The Human Highlight Film.”

Enjoy some of Williamson's most recent and amazing dunks.

Mizzou basketball fans really don’t like John Calipari ======================================================

University of Kentucky men’s basketball head coach John Calipari is one of those polarizing figures in sports. Most fans either love his swagger or think he’s rather arrogant.

On Tuesday night, University of Missouri fans let Coach Cal know how they feel about him.

If Calipari weren’t a great coach, he wouldn’t get such hate. Kentucky went on to win the game, giving Coach Cal the last laugh.

Haters gonna hate.
