However, officers later confirmed 700 North is an uncontrolled intersection and a painted crosswalk is not present.SPANISH FORK — An elderly man was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle Monday evening, police said.

The accident occurred near 700 N. Main St. around 7 p.m., according to Spanish Fork police Sgt. Courtney Jones. The man was in a crosswalk when one car missed hitting him, but he was struck by a second vehicle passing by. The vehicle was in the outside lane and tried to avoid hitting him, but struck the man, Jones said.

The victim received a head injury in the accident and was transported to Utah Valley Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle involved was a 26-year-old man. He remained on scene with multiple witnesses, Jones said.

The victim has a medical implant, but investigators have not yet been able to identify him or determine his age.
