PROVO — Sometimes players have a great game, sometimes they have an amazing games, and sometimes they do what Jamaal Williams did against Toledo on Friday night in a 55-53 win.
The game had some big moments from guys who weren’t Williams, like Taysom Hill’s TD toss to start the game.
You also had that key interception from Kai Nacua in the fourth. And of course there was that clutch field goal to seal the deal by Rhett Almond. There were also rough moments like when BYU kept giving up big plays and allowed Toledo QB Logan Woodside to have the night of his life. Yeah, that’s a lot of yards. Like, a lot a lot. Then there was that time that Toledo fumbled the snap and still converted the two-point conversion.
Yeah, that actually happened. With all of that, however the story of the game was undoubtedly Jamaal Williams. The Cougar running back not only had a career night, but he managed to set some BYU records as well.
Williams had a monster night and seemed absolutely unstoppable. Every time the ball was in his hands Cougar fans knew good things were going to happen and they did, time and time again.BYU managed to pull out the win at the end of the game with a great push by the offense and a game-winner from the kicker Almond. It may not have been pretty, but it was exciting and it was a win. The BYU Cougars are now two and three in Kalani Sitake’s inaugural season.
Next up for the Cougars is a road trip to East Lansing to take on the 17th ranked Michigan State Spartans on Saturday, Oct. 8.
