THE PITCH — Some kids are just bigger than others. That's the way things go.
I think I was fully grown by age 7, which made me an oaf. How oafy you ask? Well, I had multiple little league baseball games stopped and I had to sit out because other parents didn't believe I was 10. My mom had to carry my birth certificate to games to prove to other parents who complained. I wish I was making this up, but it's a true story.
With my size came a big advantage — strength. I was what we call a little league legend. Hitting home runs was just expected and I had a fastball that made other kids cry.
But the thing with little league legends is they are only good in little league. The other kids eventually caught up to me, I was no longer dominant, and I couldn't even make the high school team as a sophomore.
While dominate days ran out, I don't think this 8-year-old rugby player will experience the same fate. This kid is a bruiser— plain and simple.
Yes, he's twice the size of any other kid on the field, but he's also fast and fearless. While watching the video, I felt bad for all the other kids on the field as this Goliath just marches through them and pushes them around like they're stuffed animals trying to tackle him.
This kid's got a future and no one should get in his way.
