NORDIC VALLEY RESORT — Nordic Valley is expanding its summer fun offerings by opening a new 400-foot slip ‘n slide Saturday.

Located roughly 20 minutes from Ogden, Nordic Valley Resort was opened in 1968 and passed through several owners over the years before it was purchased by Skylinebase LLC in 2014, according to Nordic Valley marketing director Sarah Abney. The resort currently keeps the Apollo ski lift open during the summer months, and offers mountain biking, hiking and an 18-hole disc golf course. Starting Saturday, Nordic Valley will also include the new water slide for weekend resort visitors.

“Jimmy Pippin, the mountain manager, said that he didn’t realize that testing something could be so much fun,” Abney said. “His son, also testing the slide, said, ‘I will definitely be back, that was so much fun!’ ”

The slip ‘n slide will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. An all-day ticket costs $10. Concerts are also held at the resort on Saturdays from 6-9 p.m.

Nordic Valley is one of several resorts and parks offering a slip ‘n slide for the summer. The Utah Olympic Park converted two of its single hill ski jumps into “the world’s steepest slip ‘n slide” for its second consecutive summer.
