SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's 15-member State Board of Education says it's changing the name of the administrative State Office of Education that the board oversees.

The board says the office of education, which has about 330 staff members, will now also be known as the Utah State Board of Education.

Board Chair David Crandall says the name change will eliminate confusion. State Superintendent Sydnee Dickson says it will show the governing board and administrative office have one voice.

The change took effect on Friday.

The governing state school board created the state office of education in 1979.
