HOLDEN, Millard County — A 26-year-old West Jordan woman died and one child is in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash involving a wrong-way driver on I-15 Thursday afternoon, police said.

Police identified the woman as Jessie A. Jensen.

The crash occurred at about 2:45 p.m. when Jensen was driving a Saturn Ion south in the northbound lane and struck a Dodge Grand Caravan traveling north in the lane between Holden and Scipio, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce.

“The driver of the car that was (going the) wrong way, was pronounced dead on the scene,” Royce said.

Royce said two children were in the vehicle with Jensen. One was flown to Primary Children's Hospital in critical condition, though the injuries were not considered life-threatening. The other child was uninjured.

Royce initially said both children were critically injured.

The driver of the van was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Royce said only Jensen was not "properly restrained" among the two vehicles.

Royce said he was unsure how the driver ended up traveling in the wrong direction or how long the driver was traveling the wrong way. Royce added that police are still investigating the crash.

More information will be added when it becomes available.
