LAYTON — The All-Poly Camp continues to be a can’t-miss satellite camp in Utah, and not just for local high school football players and coaches.

Coaches from some of the top programs in the country visited the popular summer camp in Layton this week, including Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, who showed up wearing a John Stockton replica jersey tucked into his signature khakis.

Every major program in Utah had at least one coach there, and most of the Pac-12 was also strongly represented at the camp that continues to be one of the most prestigious in the country.

“For us, it’s all about giving kids opportunities to showcase their talent,” Alta coach and All Poly Camp founder Alema Te’o said. “And in front of 125 different coaches.

“Our first day we had 228 college coaches on this field.”

The camp isn’t just for players from Utah, either. Jacob Russell flew in from St. Louis High in Hawaii to compete against hundreds of players and in front of college coaches.

“It is a really good camp,” Russell said. “It’s a lot of exposure, especially for the kids from Hawaii; we don’t get much exposure in Hawaii. It’s good to compete.”

The weather cooperated and the play was great. In addition to BYU, Utah, Utah State and Weber State, coaches from Stanford, Cal Poly, UCLA and others were spotted in the crowd.

“It’s a great day to be a football player in Layton, Utah,” Te’o said.
