Wondering why your carpet has seen better days despite your best efforts? You could be making some of these mistakes without knowing! Here are some things you should never do to your carpet straight from your Utah carpet cleaning experts.

Avoid cheap cleaning products

Tom from A Spotless Carpet Cleaning says he has seen many well-meaning customers use cheap cleaning products with unfortunate results including discoloration, residue and leftover stains. He says “We use and sell a professional grade, organic, all-natural product that is made from five different minerals and works better than other products you’ll find on the market.”

Skip the grocery store cleaners and go straight to the pros for best results.

Never scrub

Not only is scrubbing carpets on your hands and knees no fun, it can also distort your carpet fibers and leave your carpet looking old and worn. Tom from A Spotless Carpet Cleaning says that when you have a stain you should blot the stain with a white terry cloth rag from the inside out.

Ditch powdered cleaning products

While carpet powders can be useful for removing odors, the experts at ProForce Carpet Cleaning recommend ditching them altogether. Residue can be left in the carpet from the powder and ultimately cause damage.

Don’t forget to deep clean

Some people wait until carpets are stained, stinky or grungy to call in the experts. ProForce recommends getting your carpet cleaned by professionals 1-2 times per year. This keeps stains from setting, gets deep dirt out and keeps your carpet looking fresh and clean.

Choose your carpet cleaner wisely

Don’t trust just anyone with your carpets. Make sure to choose someone who knows your carpets inside out, uses all the right products and who you can trust to do an excellent job. Get reviews and information about carpet cleaning services in your area at KSL Local.
