CLINTON — The Anaya family is rethinking the way they sell online after a potential buyer stole one of their puppies for sale.
On Saturday night, a woman came to their Clinton home to look at one of the 8-week old French bulldog pups. Elsy Anaya said the woman was wearing sunglasses, acting strange and offered to trade for the puppy.
"She said 'Okay, I've got a carpet, I can give you a massage,'" Anaya said.
She said when she refused the woman asked to take the puppy outside.
"The lady said 'Oh, it's because my kids and my father are waiting for me outside and my father is in a wheelchair,'" Anaya said.
Anaya said the woman took the puppy to her car and sped off.
The family called police and posted a missing dog ad online that night. Sunday morning they got a surprising call from someone who found their puppy a few miles away in West Point. Anaya called police to retrieve the dog and Sunday afternoon the family was reunited with him, for good.
"We are keeping him, you know. We don't want weird people coming into our house," Anaya said.
