CENTERVILLE — A Magna man died Sunday morning after he crashed into the back of a parked semitruck on I-15 near Centerville, authorities said.

According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, 61-year-old Chris Hulse was driving a pickup truck traveling southbound on I-15 near Parrish Lane in Centerville at approximately 5:30 in the morning Sunday when for some unknown reason, Hulse veered into the emergency lane where a semitruck was parked, slamming into the back of the semitruck.

Hulse was transported to an area hospital in Bountiful where he died from his injuries, police said. Hulse was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt.

The semitruck had pulled over because of the high-wind advisory in effect at the time. That section of I-15 has since been opened for high-profile vehicles.
