SALT LAKE CITY — A group of friends are so passionate about Utah that they want to share it with everyone.

Jaron Hall and two of his friends, who all studied at the University of Utah, came together to start a company that delivers favorite goods from the Beehive State to people around the world. Called the Utah Box, the team works with local companies to fill packages with Utah-specific items to send to people who are homesick or unfamiliar with the state.

Hall was actually born in the Detroit area, but moved to Utah when he was a toddler. He said he loves his home, but thinks it is underappreciated. While Utah Box isn’t his first entrepreneurial venture, he said it has been the most enjoyable.

“This one is kind of a lot more fun for me because it’s very specific towards where we live. I mean, you can sell a product, but right now we’re selling Utah,” Hall said. “We’re selling where we live. Since we’re all passionate about that, it just kind of makes the whole thing a lot more fun.”

Since the company’s launch in March, Hall said the company has seen orders roll in from people who want to send packages to friends and family. Eventually the team hopes to expand into corporate business, providing gifts for recruiters, hotels and others.

Customers can select which items will be included in the package from a list. The most popular products so far are the honey, huckleberry jam and truffles. Hall said they are working to add more products to the list, like a fry sauce that doesn’t need to be refrigerated.

Below are five of the items the Utah Box team selected to give people a taste of the Beehive State. Let us know what your all-time favorite Utah products are in the comment section.

Apple Beer

This tasty drink has snagged the Best in State award for beverages in Utah six times. While Apple Beer is available at stores throughout the western United States, it can be difficult to find further away from Utah.

Beehive soap

This handcrafted Great Basin Juniper soap from Beehive Soap and Body Care is made in Murray. It has a fresh pine scent, according to the soap company.

Honey

Since Utah is the Beehive State, the Utah Box team decided it was necessary to include honey in the mix. Their favorites include Miller’s baby bear honey and Cox honeyland honey. Both are created locally.

Redmond Salt

One of Utah’s most famous features is the Great Salt Lake, so it's fitting for local salt to be selected to represent the state. Hall said he has a personal tie to Redmond Salt, with a relative working for the company.

Utah Truffle

This sweet treat, which is made in Sandy, is well-known to anyone who has spent a significant amount of time in the state. It even has Utah in the name.
