BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — California forward Ivan Rabb has decided to stay in school for his sophomore season rather than enter the NBA draft.
Cal coach Cuonzo Martin said Sunday night that Rabb made his decision to return for his sophomore season after thinking about it with his family. Rabb had been projected to be a first-round pick.
Rabb's decision is a big boost for the Golden Bears, who already lost talented freshman Jaylen Brown to the draft. Rabb averaged 12.5 points and 8.6 rebounds this season when he helped Cal make it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013.
Rabb leads a talented returning core for the Bears that also includes guard Jabari Bird, outside shooter Jordan Mathews, backup point Sam Singer and 7-footers Kingsley Okoroh and Kameron Rooks.
