DEER CREEK STATE PARK — After part of the zip line opened last October, the remainder of the nearly 4,000-foot zip line will open at Deer Creek State Park just in time for summer.

The new zip line was first announced in May 2015 as part of several new features at the state park. ZipLineUtah opened the first section, “Flight of the Condor,” in October. It features four zip lines and one aerial bridge. The remainder of the zip line tour, the epic “Screaming Falcon” course will open mid-May and will feature 10 zip lines and seven aerial bridges, according to ZipLineUtah owner Jon Johnson.

“This zip line tour will feature a 3,900-foot zip line over Rainbow Bay, making it the longest zip line ride in the world over a body of water of this size,” according to the ZipLineUtah website.

The full zip line tour will total almost 2 miles and will allow users to reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. It is also the only zip line in the world that zip lines uphill and is a loop, Johnson said. The company also plans to add a ropes course and 80-foot climbing wall later this summer. A paintball zip lining event will also be held at the park this fall.

“Jon has been a great partner, and his zip line is proving to be a great feature of Deer Creek State Park, attracting many visitors who might otherwise not be inclined to visit the state park,” Deer Creek State Park manager Steve Bullock said.

People must weigh 250 pounds or less and must be at least 8 years old to ride the zip line. The “Flight of the Condor” zip tour costs $49.99 and the “Screaming Falcon” full zip tour costs $89.99. Johnson said deals are always offered for youth and church groups.
