UTAH STATE PRISON — Johnny Brickman Wall, who was sentenced earlier this year to 15 years to life in prison for the death of his ex-wife Uta von Schwedler, won't get a chance at parole for at least 28 years.

The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole has set an original hearing date for Wall for April 2043. The actual day and location of the hearing will be determined about six weeks prior to the hearing, according to board spokesman Greg Johnson.

The board also ordered a psychological evaluation for Wall and took the question over restitution under advisement, Johnson said.

Wall, a pediatrician, was convicted of killing von Schwedler, 49, a University of Utah researcher, who was found dead in an overflowing bathtub of her home in 2011. She had a toxic level of Xanax in her system.

Wall has maintained his innocence throughout, something he again reiterated at his sentencing. He wants a new trial based on what he contends were faults with the state's witnesses at trial.

One of the major points of contention during Wall's trial was whether von Schwedler was suicidal and willfully consumed the Xanax or if Wall forcefully gave it to her.

Wall, who turned 52 on Monday, will be 80 in November 2043.
