OGDEN — A decomposing body found in a remote area of Ben Lomond Mountain over the weekend was identified Tuesday as that of a man who was last seen in April 2014.
Police said the body is that of Joshua Easley, who was 25-years-old when he went missing. Easley was identified by the state medical examiner's office, which compared dental records with his remains, according to the Weber County Sheriff's Office.
Police are still investigating how Easley died, said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Lane Findlay.
"(Detectives will) analyze … what evidence was recovered and then hopefully make a determination," Findlay said. "We hope there's an answer for the family."
It's possible some answers in Easley's death will never come, the lieutenant said. Easley, who was found about three-quarters of the way up the mountain and "way off the beaten path," likely died sometime in 2014, according to Findlay.
Easley's car was found at a trailhead in North Ogden a short time after he went missing. Police searched the area but found nothing at the time. Easley's body was located about a two-hour hike from that area.
Easley was found with photo identification, Findlay said.
