From the moment you open the door to My Gym, you're greeted with the joyous sounds of laughter and toddlers on the move. Each wobbly step is packed with energetic determination to walk upright and stay focused as "circle time" is announced.

As owner Jamie Dicks says, these children are having more than just a good time. "We're working on strength, balance, coordination as well as self-esteem and confidence," Jamie said.

Children as young as 6 weeks to 13 years are developing a love for exercise. With childhood obesity rates rapidly increasing, now is better than ever to teach kids the importance of being active, she said. At first glance everything inside My Gym looks like an oversized indoor playground. The trapeze, monkey bars and balance beam all have a purpose.

"Something as simple as a zip line, it's scary to try, so they're developing their self-esteem and confidence by trying something that might be a little bit scary," she said.

Each age group has a uniquely structured program, designed to challenge each child while instilling a sense of independence and self-confidence. Values that Jamie couldn't agree with more. "I want being active to be just as important as brushing your teeth or combing your hair," she said. "We want them to have fun while being physical. They go hand in hand."

In addition to classes, My Gym offers a parent night out and camps, along with hosting birthday parties. To try out a free class and see if it's a good fit for your child, click here.
