SALT LAKE CITY — Families can come in all shapes and sizes. For Julie Anderson, a family wasn't happening at all.
"Well I always wanted to be a mom and never had the opportunity so I decided to look into foster care," she said. That's how she learned about 17-year-old Olivia. "I looked at her and went, what a neat kid."
Olivia says she lived in foster care for four years.
"Every kid is just looking for a place they can call their own and a family they can call their own," said Anderson.
"It was really, really neat to have that moment where it's real and she gets to stay," said Anderson when the adoption was finally official.
For Olivia, it was a day she says she will never forget.
"It's nice. It's good to know I'm not going to have to pack up and move another day you know? It's a good feeling," said Olivia.
And although this family is small in size, it's taking shape, and Julie loves that.
"She's brought something into my life that I've wanted my whole life, and I love her. It's great," said Anderson.
The adoption was finalized just a few months ago.
