DINNER TIME — You might expect a sibling to trick you into eating dog food, but you probably don't expect to eat dog food during a marketing focus group.

New Jersey-based company Freshpet did just that to back their purpose to "allow pets to have the same healthy eating habits as their owners." Turning the testing tables, the company set up a focus group to test out their fresh pet foods on human guinea pigs.

Troy Wilson, a faculty member at the UVU Culinary Arts Institute, prepared the food to look like about any other gourmet set up one would find at any mid- to high-end restaurant. Participants tried a slider, a soft taco with fancy garnish and meatballs on a bed of pasta.

For the most part, the test subjects vocalized liking the food, including "This is the best burger I've ever tasted" and "The meat is amazing."

When the truth is revealed, there was all-around disbelief, but some people kept eating, believe it or not. Perhaps the best reaction was from an elderly gentleman who states after the reveal, "I was going to say, this tastes like dog food, but I didn't want anyone to think that I'd eaten dog food."

On the other hand, one of the children took an extra burger home with him, according to the behind-the-scenes video, that's how much he loved it. Rest assured, the parents of the children gave their consent before the children were fed pet food, according to the video description.

The video was created by Provo-based Shareability. This is just one of several videos the company has collaborated on, including this amazing holiday feast with pets from the Humane Society of Utah and everyone's favorite TV reporter, Apparently Kid.
