PROVO — This year's BYU Campus Education Week will offer a message of hope in the 1,000 classes offered on marriage and family, health, finance and more.

An excerpt from Hebrews 6:18-19, "Lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul," will serve as the theme for the five-day event occurring Aug. 17-21, Brigham Young University said in a press release.

BYU professors, seminary and institute teachers for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and experts in various fields will address audiences on subjects like communication, history, personal development and gospel topics in addition to the topics listed above.

Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for the LDS Church will also speak at the event. Elder Andersen will speak at the free, open-to-the-public devotional Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 11:10 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

Youths between 14 and 18 years old can also participate in education week by attended some of the 45 classes offered specifically for them. A youth dance will take place the evening of Thursday, Aug. 20 at the south end concourse of LaVell Edwards Stadium. Youths wishing to participate in the dance must pay $5 in advance.

Participants hoping to attend classes eligible for continuing legal education hosted by The J. Reuben Clark Law Society and Campus Education Week can do so, but must check with their state bars to ensure the classes will be recognized as CLE credit.

Three musical performances will occur Tuesday, Aug. 18 through Friday, Aug. 21 at the BYU Harris Fine Arts Center. Performances include the Tony-award winning music spectacular "Crazy For You", the award-winning orchestra American Heritage Lyceum Philharmonic and cinematic pop group, GENTRI — The Gentleman Trio.

Tickets for the performances are $12 and can be purchased now at the BYU ticket office (801-422-2981) or at byutickets.com. Anyone with a ticket can attend these performances, even if they aren't attending education week.
