OGDEN — A motorcyclist was hit and killed by a FrontRunner train Tuesday evening, moments after crashing into a lowered railroad arm, police said.
A 72-year-old man was driving his motorcycle west on 2nd Street near 500 West in Ogden when he struck a crossing gate and crashed onto the nearby tracks, Ogden police reported. He was hit by a FrontRunner train just seconds later and died at the scene.
The man's name wasn't released Tuesday, pending notification of family members.
Through traffic at the crossing was closed down, police said.
Utah Transit Authority officials also responded to the scene of the crash. Three UTA employees and one passenger were on the train at the time.
