THE FUTURE — I can only imagine the excitement and confusion when archeologists found things like the Rosetta Stone or Stonehenge. These things are amazing to look at as you try to figure out why these ancient civilizations built them and how they were constructed.

Much like the explorers and scholars who found these objects, this young archeologist came across something strange, unique and intimidatingly beautiful: a payphone.

As far as the boy is concerned, the payphone is almost as dated as the telegraph or the pony express. The boy’s face is a mixture of wonderment, fear and disappointment that humanity ever used this contraption.

He is clearly a sharp chap when he made some connections and asked, “Is this one of those old-fashioned phones?”

Yes, son, it most certainly is. We use to use them to call our mom’s to pick us up from the old picture house after taking in a show. We’d often search our pockets fruitlessly for a quarter, and when we came up empty-handed we cautiously dialed 1-800-Collect and hoped dad wouldn’t be too upset.

Am I the only one feeling old here?

Regardless, it’s pretty funny to watch this kid try and figure what this dated and bulky contraption ever added to society. If you only knew, young man ... if you only knew.
