Nomination letter sent in by Virginia Harmon:

Ruth, has spent many years volunteering and heading the kids for cancer in Utah county, even when she was suffering herself from her disease and has started organizing one in SLC. She has quietly helped many people, opening her home, her closet, her food, whatever was needed. She has been a foster mom, currently running a day care. You could say well that isn't much. But what most people don't know, is she has a rare muscle disease, that took her down to where she was in the hospital for many months, relearning the natural things, of life that we all take for granted. Even, at times when detrimental to her physical health, she will help someone in need, including her own kids. She is the oldest of 3 kids and has helped her brothers' tirelessly throughout their lives.

Ruth is an example of quiet grace, love, kindness. A person, who goes more then just a mile for someone in need, but goes as long as needed to help that person. I believe, Ruth deserves the recognition you are talking about. She would never agree that she is something special, but she is someone very special and unique, a rare jewel of a woman.
