ICE ICE BABY — The right fishing conditions involve a lot of variables to get the fish to bite: weather, time of day, noise, shadows, bait, patience and many more that an expert would be happy to discuss with you.

Regardless of the variables and your efforts, there's always a bit of excitement when your line tugs and you know you have something live on the hook. Well, from what I remember as a kid anyway, because I've been afraid of fishing ever since I got a fish hook embedded in my cheek while doing some pond fishing. I forgive you, baby brother.

But I digress.

This 2-minute video captures that line-tugging excitement, as a fisherman in Philadelphia rushes across the ice to see what the yank on his line will yield. The excitement turned into shock and awe when the fisherman finally pulls his catch to the surface, but what he pulled out of the ice is basically the exact opposite of a fish in the animal kingdom.

I'm not sure you'd believe me if I told you it was a bird, so I suggest you watch the video yourself to find out for sure. I'm just happy that this fisherman believes in catch and release.
