STRONG BADIA — Sweet cuppin’ cakes! Homestar Runner, Strong Bad, Marzipan, The Cheat and other Homestar Runner universe characters may make a comeback, co-creator Matt Chapman said Monday.

Speaking on "The Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show" podcast, Chapman said he and his brother and Homestar Runner co-creator, Mike Chapman, have been “jonesing” to pick the series back up after a three-year break. The two launched the Flash animation cartoon website in 2000, bringing to life characters voiced by the brothers and Missy Palmer. The site became immensely popular in the early 2000s but the creators paused the project in 2010 to focus on other projects.

“We would routinely text each other dumb jokes for a Homestar or Strong Bad line that would probably never happen. We’ve been jonesing, we’ve been wanting to do this stuff,” Matt Chapman said.

For April Fools', the brothers updated the cartoon’s website intro, featuring the site’s “Old Timey Cartoons” and “Strong Bad Emails,” among other popular features.

“The April Fools' thing was definitely like a ‘all right, we’ve got the time, we’re going to do it, we’re going to see if anybody gives a crap anymore and if they do, the goal will be to start making more stuff,’" Matt Chapman said on the podcast. "Hopefully, on a more frequent basis.”

No official return date has been set, though it’s clear fans are excited by the possibility of a reboot.

“When they release a new cartoon the Internet is going to explode again,” wrote one Reddit user.
