LOS ANGELES — Even if you have talent coming out your ears, it can be tough to break into the music business. Sometimes it comes down to finding a hook and then marketing it well.

Singer/songwriter Rob Cantor’s hook may be that he also happens to be an impressionist. In order to promote his debut album, “Not a Trampoline,” Cantor made a casual-setting video performing his original song, “Perfect,” while impersonating 29 different celebrities, characters and singers.

He kicks off the video impersonating Randy Newman then easily transitions into 28 more six- to seven-second impressions.

Cantor has expected impressions like Bob Dylan, Adam Sandler and Kermit the Frog, but he also has amazingly accurate surprises with his impressions of Billie Holiday, Christopher Lloyd and Gwen Stefani. He even throws in a great impression of Flipper and an incredibly realistic imitation of a trumpet, just for kicks.

For the most part, Cantor is hilariously spot-on with his impressions, plus he’s generally funny and charming to boot.
