LEHI — The Outlets at Traverse Mountain will soon be home to the largest retail LED sign in the U.S.

Established in Lehi in November 2012, the Outlets at Traverse Mountain have become a well-known fixture in Utah County. However, it will soon catch the eye of every traveler on I-15 with the enormous, new sign.

The revolutionary light management system stands over 100 feet tall and has 2,474 square feet of LED display. The sign has 1.7 million individual LED lights and hosts more than 4.4 trillion colors, along with boasting energy efficiency.

"The sign will be (able to display) any creative or any color, and the sign will show it off in a magnificent manner and is nothing that you'll see on any LED sign like this in the state," said Heather Nash, marketing director for Outlets at Traverse Mountain.

The sign was approved along with the plans for the Outlets in 2009, but wasn't completed when the the Outlets opened in 2012. Multimedia Company created the technology and formatting for the sign and local Salt Lake City business Yesco, built the structure. Sign construction began in October 2013.

The sign will advertise sales and promotions for stores at the complex as well as promote local events in the community.

The sign will be placed near I-15 off exit 284.

"If you are coming from the north, you will be able to see it just as you pass the Point of the Mountain, and when you are traveling from the south heading northbound ,you can see it for about a mile heading up the road," Nash said. "It's a big sign."

Installation of the new sign will precede the unveiling of phase II at the outlet complex. Phase II will include an H&M store and is set to open this summer.

The official unveiling of the sign will be held Monday, April 21, at 1:30 p.m.
