SALT LAKE CITY — The women of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will gather for what is being called a historic meeting this Saturday.

The female leaders of the faith say this will be the first time that women, young women and girls — age 8 and older — will meet together.

A video released Wednesday by the church shows that the general presidents of the church’s Relief Society, Young Women and Primary organizations will speak, as well as a member of the church's First Presidency.

Generations, they say, will be able to watch throughout the world.

“We have a message for the women in the world, and this is to be true to the beauty and the goodness that’s in them, to give of themselves and what they have to give,” said Sister Neill F. Marriott, second counselor in the Young Women General Presidency.

“There will be many different ways of giving, but the gospel of Jesus Christ is what inspires us to understand what we have to give,” Sister Marriott said.

She also said that social media is a great way to share feelings about this meeting with family and friends.

The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at 6 p.m. in the LDS Conference Center. It will also be broadcast live on the church’s General Conference website and on BYU TV.
