SALT LAKE CITY — The Utes finished their second spring practice in a chilly Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Just how cold was it? Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham was wearing pants!

The defense appears to be ahead of the offense, which would be typical for only the second practice of the spring. The bright spot from the offense would be the definite improvement in the passing game, with Travis Wilson and Adam Schulz looking sharp at quarterback.

The running backs saw a lot of passes directed their way and look to be a feature of this spread offense under the influence of co-offensive coordinator Dennis Erickson.

The offense did get a little sloppy towards the end of practice, which Coach Whittingham accounted to the third team offense being out on the field, which hasn't seen as many reps as the first and second teams.

We caught up with Coach Whittingham, RB Kelvin York and WR Kenneth Scott after practice, you can hear their comments in the video player above.
