WEST VALLEY CITY - #13 Tim Fahrner, from Sandy, Utah, powered into the lead at Rocky Mountain Raceways' Comcast Super Stock main on Saturday night. #19 James Ford started the race up front and led the first few laps before relinquishing the top spot to #44 Al Jones. An early caution positioned Jones and Fahrner for a head-to-head shoot out that ended with Fahrner passing Jones on the inside on lap 12. Fahrner and Jones checked out for the remainder of the 30-lap main event, leaving Ford, #22 Corey Walker, and #18 Daniel Calligaro to battle for the remaining positions. With three laps to go, Ford passed Walker for the third position. Walker finished in fourth and Calligaro finished in fifth.
#24 Jimmy Waters and #43 Kyle Bergener also went head-to- head in the 25-lap Winged Sprint main event. Bergener started the race on the pole position and led the field till a late caution. In some of the best racing seen all season, Waters briefly took the lead with a dive on the inside. Bergener reciprocated with the same dive on the inside for a fleeting moment of victory. With just four laps to go, Waters was able to edge ahead for the win with Bergener finishing in a strong second. #2 Mel Andrus finished in third.
#15 Michael Daniels fended off Waters' challenge in their 20-lap Focus Midget main. The two consistently exchanged positions, but Daniels was ultimately successful finishing just 00:00.237 ahead of Water's second place finish. #13 Chuck Groat finished in third.
Additional RMR Oval Racing Series' winners included: #02 Anthony Quintana (Jr. Stingers) #88 Kevin Neff (U Burn 'em We Build 'em Transmissions Mini Cups,) and #8 Mid-Life Crisis (Double Deckers.)
Racing will continue on the America First Credit Union Super Oval on Saturday, July 26 with the Lucas Oil Modifieds Series, Hornets, Figure-8 Cars, and Western States Equipment Figure-8 Trains. Fireworks will follow racing.
