The Runnin’ Utes claimed their first big win of the season Thursday in a lopsided affair over the visiting No. 25 USC Trojans. Although a solid win, with Utah in control for much of the game, Utah remains a team on the outside looking in.
The Utah basketball program was expected to have a mediocre season — not necessarily bad, but not necessarily as good as the previous two seasons. With turnover at nearly every roster spot, Utah was inexperienced enough and seemingly incapable.

For the ninth time in 10 years, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham is making a change at offensive coordinator. After two years of calling plays, Aaron Roderick is out and will be replaced by Troy Taylor. Again, the promise is the offense will improve.
