SANTA FE, Texas — A Texas mom has been charged after allegedly waiting hours to take her wounded son to the hospital following a shooting, instead spending time searching for information on the Internet.
Deborah Tagle was charged with one count of injury to a child with intent to commit bodily injury, according to ABC 13. Tagle apparently waited seven hours to take her 14-year-old son to the hospital after he was struck by gunfire at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the family's home.
The teen's friend, 24-year-old Pete Jesse Rodriquez, was playing with a pistol and pointed it directly at the 14-year-old, pulling the trigger and shooting the boy in the upper-left thigh.
Police said Tagle drove her son to the hospital after searching for information on gunshot wounds on WebMD, a website that provides health information.
The boy was transported via ambulance to another hospital. His condition has not been released, but he is expected to recover, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Rodriguez was charged with one count of felony injury to a child-serious bodily injury, according to police.
