SALT LAKE CITY — Utah is technically still in fall camp but have been in full game-week mode getting ready for the Utah State Aggies next Thursday.

"We always circle the opener," head coach Kyle Whittingham said regarding Utah State. "That is our primary focus."

"Now we are trying to get ourselves ready for Utah State," co-offensive coordinator Dennis Erickson added.

The pressure of the game is all on the Utes who need the win to not only get off on the correct foot, but to also to get an all-important win on a schedule full of difficult games.

"They are going to come down and give us our best shot, they are confident, they beat us last year." Dres Anderson said. "We feel like we've got a good scheme for them."

"All of our time," Whittingham added. "Starting on Monday we went into our in-season routine and it is all focused and geared toward Utah State."

This shows just how big the game is for Utah to welcome the Aggies into Rice-Eccles Stadium next Thursday, and then welcome them right back to Logan.

Not all of the chatter from practice Tuesday was about Utah State, though. Erickson was excited about the last six or seven practices and how much progress they are making. It looked real from the small amount of time we got to watch practice.

The offense was moving really fast in and out of play calls and between plays. It looked like a tempo the coaches could be happy with.
