This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

The name has changed, but their focus on providing the best possible care for their patients hasn't. After 45 years as Central Utah Clinic, this Utah-based healthcare provider has changed their name to Revere Health to better reflect the work and reach they're doing throughout Utah and now in Nevada and Arizona.

Scott Barlow, CEO, says Revere Health is a medical system providing services to individuals in clinics, hospitals, nursing homes and other places. They have over 100 Utah locations and offer 29 specialties. They manage the clinics and provide staffing, one reason they now have 1,500 employees. By the way, this is a physician-owned operation with a majority of the 175 physicians as shareholders.

Innovation has been a critical focus for Revere Health since their founding in July 1960. They're one of the first groups in the U.S. to create an electronic medical records system to remove redundancy in patient care. Statistically, patients with a major illness will see six different physicians in the course of a year, and often the information isn't transferred effectively between providers. So, in 2002, Revere Health successfully implemented a system for electronic health records to improve patient care and health outcomes. They discovered better coordination on patient care at a lower cost.

Revere Health became a magnet for people wanting to be part of this evolving and innovative system that provides better service for patients. This is one reason the company has been growing at an annual rate of 20 percent.

Scott says at Revere Health, they see the medicine as a collaborative industry, so they work together to come up with the best treatment plans. They're focused on preventive care and long-term health issues, like obesity and caring for the aging Baby Boomers. By combining technology and toolsets, Revere Health can manage and coordinate care, while helping people to live longer and healthier lives, proving once more why Utah is gaining national accolades for our outstanding healthcare systems.
