This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Did you realize that the LDS Church started the first arts council in the United States 50 years before anyone else? They were so dedicated to creating a strong arts culture in Utah that besides setting up the arts council, they sent people over to Paris to learn how to paint like the masters to replicate the culture they'd known before heading west. And Diane Stewart of Modern West Fine Art in downtown Salt Lake City is carrying on that Utah tradition with her deep appreciation and passion for art.

Modern West Fine Art is one of the newest and coolest art galleries to come to downtown on the corner of 200 East and 200 South in Salt Lake City. It features mainly modern western art from around the U.S., in an eclectic regional selection. Diane wanted to gallery to represent Utah's arts culture but also to go beyond the state.

Diane and her husband, Sam, have been collecting for over 20 years, and their passion is now displayed in Diane's beautiful new gallery. Modern West Fine Art is an inspiring place to view beautiful art and they have some of the hottest talents, like Rob Colvin, Billy Schenck and John Vehar. They also have Native artists represented like Shonto Begay, Kevin Red Star and Frank Buffalo Hyde.

If you've never been on a gallery stroll, you've got to check it out. They're held the third Friday of the month from 6 to 9 p.m. This month you don't want to miss the beauty of Modern West Fine Art Gallery and the April gallery stroll on April 17 featuring John Berry and Rob Colvin, two local artists who depict the Utah landscape with a contemporary voice.

Diane has also opened Modern West Fine Art up for non-profit events, as well as some civic events and cultural events to welcome people into her gallery. She says business has been great and she's been warmly welcomed into the community, one reason she met her goals within the first three months of opening.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
