This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

The demand for entertainment-oriented content has never been higher. But with so many ways to view everything now available, consumers are becoming increasingly selective as to what movies they choose to buy, meaning DVD and Blu-ray sales have declined in recent years. In fact, especially with rising ticket prices, the trend now is that many people only want to see movies once. For Tyler Walters and Mike Daniels this became exactly the business opportunity to launch their company Water Gardens Theatres.

What they saw was a need in the market for a family-friendly affordable theatre where parents could bring their children to see a movie without spending a lot of money. So, they set their rates at $3.50 per ticket, with children two years old and under free of charge. The model has been a success.

This is an intermediate theatre, meaning new releases come about six weeks after the opening, but a step above a dollar theater. Water Gardens Theatres offers quality, family-friendly movies that enhance the entire movie-going experience. Affordable ticket prices mean extended families, including grandparents, can go together.

Any treats they offer are set at prices of one to three dollars, so they are also affordable.... And because they lay the candy choices out on a table when you walk in, there's no line to fight to get your treat. They offer reserved seating online at no extra charge so if you want to take your family to a feature this weekend, you can pick your seats beforehand...

Water Gardens Theatres now has locations in Pleasant Grove, Spanish Fork and Holladay in Utah .... An important focus is environment, so they carefully clean their theaters daily and hang seasonal decorations.

Right now the owners are experimenting with offering hot snack options at Water Gardens Theatres, like pizza, wraps and quesadillas. They take your order, and it's ready in just 6 minutes, so you won't be late for your movie. It's just one more service that makes them unique and customer oriented.
