This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

According to a recent Newsweek article, Americans consume around 14 million donuts every year, making donuts one of our favorite treats. That's why Drew Morgan was smart to tap into this market four years ago when he opened Beyond Glaze.

Drew says Beyond Glaze is a twist on this favorite treat. While they start with a plain glazed donut, they top it with gourmet frostings, made from all-natural fruits and juices and real chocolate, rather than flavorings. Drew's eight employees make and hand decorate the donuts on site daily. Right now they have 36 different flavors.

What's really put Beyond Glaze on the map is their Maple Bacon Donut. They took a standard maple donut and spiced it up by adding bacon strips. Customers also love their chocolate cake donut, buttermilk old-fashioned donut and the red velvet. They just introduced a French cruller (crew-lure), a curly donut that's like a German pancake as a donut. If you want a drink to go with your donut, they also have a selection fountain drinks, espressos, coffees, lattes, an assortment of milks and orange juices.

Beyond Glaze has taken off at the Draper location, at 177 West 123rd South, off I-15, so the Morgans just opened a second location in Ogden. They already have their eye on franchising when the timing makes sense; however, they want to establish a solid base of operations in Utah first.
